Black Resource Center Advisory Committee

Main Content

The Black Resource Center Advisory Committee (BRCAC) was created to serve in an advisory role to the Black Resource Center (BRC). A major goal of the BRCAC is to advise, advocate and assist the BRC in achieving its goal of providing support for all SIU students. The BRCAC offers support through consultation to the center in hopes of developing strategies and best practices in efforts to meet the academic, cultural, professional and social needs of the diverse Black community on the SIU campus, while advancing diversity throughout the Carbondale community.

The BRCAC will assist the BRC staff with anything from strategic planning, assessment of current programming (academic, cultural, social), marketing and offering ideas/suggestions for Black History Month, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration, connecting students, faculty and staff to the BRC and influencing the overall direction of the center.
