Saluki Rainbow Network (SRN)
The Saluki Rainbow Network (SRN) of SIUC is an organization which seeks to promote the basic civil rights, human dignity, and personal freedoms of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, allies, and all other identities (LGBTQIAA+) of Southern Illinois University’s community. We regularly host events and meetings on campus for such individuals and our allies of any identity.
ALIAS (Alternative Lifestyles, Identities, and Sexualities)
ALIAS is here to provide positive, experience-based education and support on various identities and sexualities.
Saluki Furry Society (SFS)
The purpose of this organization is to provide a safe environment for SIU students and Southern Illinois Community Members to discuss and partake in “Furry” related topics and events. All meetings and events affiliated with Saluki Furry Society are treated as LGBTQ+ Safe Spaces.
The Intersectionality Project (TIP)
The purpose of The Intersectionality Project is to help queer Black students and others with intersecting identities to be around a group of people that can understand them and have a place of belonging. The organization is essential to be used as a structure to guide students who are Black or Brown, male or female, transgender, or non-binary and to give them essential guidance and positivity. The organization is also a way to assist students who may need a tip on LGBTQ+ resources. This organization is also to encourage students to build social, professional, and critical skills within academia, but also to apply to the real world. No matter what T.I.P. shall always bring friendship, harmony, and compassion to each other and the world around us.
National Gay Pilots Association (NGPA)
The Southern Illinois University chapter of the National Gay Pilots Association (NGPA) serves as a safe space for LGBTQ+ and ally student aviators involved in all facets of the aviation industry. We promote safety, professionalism, and awareness in the aviation community and enhance the mission of SIU by promoting diversity and inclusion in our programs.
